English County Hampers believe passionately in locally produced food and drink for a number of good reasons

Quality

Most locally produced food is made on a small scale where the enthusiastic, hard working owners have one thing in common - quality first.  They all believe that only the best ingredients should be used to make their products special.  Furthermore, most local food is organically produced and usually free from artificial additives and preservatives.

Local food is tasty food; something sadly missing in our ever increasing monoculture.

Low food miles

Estimates suggest that the average distance travelled by an item of food to reach our plate is over 5000 miles. Consider the cost to the environment of the pollution and wasted energy. The average food miles for an item in one of our Oxfordshire hampers is just 19. We support the Farmers Weekly: 'Local Food is Miles Better’ campaign.

Did you know? If all foods were sourced from within 15 miles of where they were consumed, the country would save £2.1bn in environmental and congestion costs.

Supporting local business

Local producers provide us with the finest foods from the county or region and many of our hampers are bought, in turn, by local businesses and residents.  This keeps money recycling within the community.

Local businesses will have the added pleasure of championing their local food producers, have a much more interesting gift to give to their customers and staff and can take pride in the wealth of good food and drink coming from their region.

The more we buy locally, the stronger our local businesses will become and the greater the choice will be.
